Alisa Kovalenko

Alisa Kovalenko is an award-winning Ukrainian documentary filmmaker. Her films «Alisa in Warland» (IDFA 2015), «Home Games» (Sheffield Doc/Fest 2018), «We Will Not Fade Away» (Berlinale 2023), and «My Dear Theo» (CPH:DOX 2025) have screened at major festivals worldwide, winning numerous awards. Alisa is also a former captive and survivor of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV). Since 2019, Alisa has served as a board member of SEMA Ukraine, and since 2025, a member of SEMA, the Global Network of CRSV survivors.

Iryna Dovgan

Iryna Dovgan is a survivor of conflict-related sexual violence in 2014 in Donbas. Iryna turned her own experience of abduction, torture and sexual violence into a voice for other survivors. Since 2019, she has led SEMA Ukraine bringing survivors together to seek recognition, justice, and reparations. Despite stigma, trauma and limited resources, Iryna has shown extraordinary resolve in supporting survivors and breaking the silence on CRSV in Ukraine. Iryna is also a member of SEMA, the Global Network of CRSV survivors.

SEMA Ukraine

In 2019, Ukrainian women who survived captivity during the conflict in eastern Ukraine that began in 2014 came together to stand up for their rights and for others who had experienced similar harm. Inspired by the global SEMA network, and with the support of the Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation and the Eastern Ukrainian Center for Civic Initiatives, they formed SEMA Ukraine.
