About the film:
As Russia launches its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, primary schools across Russia are transformed into recruitment stages for the war. Facing the ethical dilemma of working in a system defined by propaganda and violence, a brave teacher films what's really happening in his own school.
Update:
Since fleeing Russia, Pavel 'Pasha' Talankin has been granted asylum in Europe. While rebuilding his life in exile, he continues to speak out about propaganda, democracy, and freedom of expression - but to keep doing so, he needs support.
After receiving the Academy Award for Best Documentary, Pasha now hopes to use the film’s visibility to help continue international conversations about propaganda, censorship, and the fragile conditions for free expression in today’s political climate.
Pasha continues to receive invitations to screenings, panel talks, university events, and discussions with journalists, students, policymakers, and human rights organizations across Europe and the US. Through these conversations, he shares his firsthand experiences from inside the Russian school system and contribute to greater awareness of how propaganda shapes everyday life across borders.
By supporting Pasha, you help make it possible for him to continue taking part in these conversations and reaching new audiences, ensuring that the dialogue started by the film continues far beyond the cinema.
