She had an exciting international career in finance. But a deep seated desire to enquire into the deeper aspects of what it is to be a human being was brought to the surface following a life-changing visit to Indonesia. Her life changed exponentially after she was held at gunpoint in her hotel room in Jakarta. She resigned from her financial career and began travelling and exploring yoga and meditation. From financial analyst to Buddhist nun. She is now an established author, inspirational teacher, and founder of Opening Your Heart to Bhutan, a charity for special needs children's school projects.
She now faces her most formidable challenge yet to raise money for her charity: conquering the Wild Bhutan Trail, an unforgiving 403km route crossing 12 mountains over 37 days. It's wild and untouched; very few have made the entire journey, and it is intentionally left literally to the wild to reduce any impact on nature. It’s arduous, surprising and virtually unseen.
This documentary will follow Emma on this extraordinary journey, showcasing resilience in the face of nature’s toughest trials. Viewers will witness a woman’s deep connection to Bhutan, living in the East, and a constant torsion between the East and West.
